Well, it went for a respectable, but still cheap $768.00. I see that Greg
Logidice tried and seemed to reach his limit. And someone else tried to
snipe the lens with <10 sec to go in the auction.

I saw this quickly today.
A Tamron 400/4 with the 1.4x doesn't come along often at such a price.
It's
currently at $450 (reserve met) with 3 hours to go on the auction.
From the description, it appears to have some problems with either fungus
or
de-cementing on one of the rear element pairs, but this is a very good deal
on a fabulous lens, even with the problems. It usually sells for
$1000-1200
with the 1.4x. I just don't have the cash or the ability to hide such a
monster right now. Big lenses have a way of being conspicuous while little
ones can come and go clandestinely.

Gary Reese did a test of this lens too. It rated VERY high.
