Exactly my feelings.
Of course, there are ways around the mandatory registration, which can be
found on the internet; even legal ones (at least under German law; there was
an interesting article in one of the computer magazines I read). But I think
I'll just wait until I buy my next PC which will probably come with XP
anyway, and try it out then. If I don't like it I'll be back to 98 SE in no
time. I'd really like to change over to Linux but can't for job-related
reasons.
