Well, it happened this morning. I was happily shooting the Calder
sculpture in front of Federal Plaza, when the -4Ti just locked up and
wouldn't let the shutter go. I spun the dial around to Mech. B 60, but
w/ no success - it was worse than I thought! Radio Shack didn't open
until 8:30, so I had to wait in agony until I could get to the bottom of
the situation.
Well, after replacing the battery - nothing. No beep from the battery
check, no movement in the shutter, nothing! I release the roll of film
and remove it from the camera. Shutter was closed, but still nothing
working. There was a rattle coming from the camera - what I presumed to
be a limp mirror flopping around helplessly.
Thankfully when I removed the lens I saw the new 2-4 screen removed form
its housing and jamming up the whole works. It suffered a small
scratch, but to have my camera back was pleasing enough. I knew it was
punishment for not going to mass this morning, but I guess a quick
repentance helped me to recover my favorite body! ;) what a morning...
