I'm sure this lens can compete with the 35-80/2.8 Zuiko (B&H list price
$1350).
And the list price of the Angénieux was $1191 in 1983 (translates as $1,973
in 1998$)...

Besides it's discontinued and rare. Especially the Leica mount version is
very much wanted.
