Well, not quite. I discovered with the 6x7 that you could do quite
steady hand-held shots even at slow shutter speeds by prefiring the
mirror. You can do this easily without taking your eye away from the
viewfinder and the mirror prefier button uses the other hand to the
shutter release so no fumbling either. This wouldn't work so well with
the OM-1 arrangement, which is quite fiddly and only really useable if
you have the camera on a tripod anyway.
I think I may be able to get something like this by somehow extending
the self-timer switch into a lever - cancelling the self timer during
countdown fires the shutter immediately. With the little tab, though,
it's quite fiddly and you move the camera slightly whilst pushing the
tab back.
