Early OM-2s had a center-weighted pattern on the shutter curtain. Later -2s
and all -2ns had the averaging pattern. This meant that in auto mode with
very fast shutter speeds, the early -2s gave a more center-weighted exposure
calculation, and at slower speeds, the effect was to have a more averaged
exposure, since relatively more of the exposure time was spent with the
sensor looking at the film as opposed to the shutter curtain. Manual
exposures would be center-weighted all the way since the exposure is set by
cells that look at the shutter curtain before the actual exposure is made. At
least I think that's the way it goes. ;-)
Somewhere on the Web there's a page with photos of both patterns, but I've
lost the link to it. It may be at Lee Hawkins' FAQ site.
