A silvernosed lens is a lens made before Olympus
started muticoating their lenses. These lenses can be
distinguished by the chrome filter ring and lens hood
if they have one, therefore when you look at the lens
from the front it has a silver ring rather than black.
This is why they are called "silvernose." Silvernose
lenses IMHO look cooler than the all black ones and
the quality is about the same as the later ones so its
more of a fasion statement than anything. I'll let Ken
N. explain further all of his lenses are silvernosed.
