I couldn't agree more.
But, a little edge burning almost always helps the presence of a print. And
skies usually look a lot more like what your eye saw if burned in about a
stop.
Still, all the manipulation in the world won't fix a badly done negative. I
know. I stood at the same place and shot that church in Hernadez. . .
