Some basic things to look for:
http://brashear.phys.appstate.edu/lhawkins/photo/olympus.faq.html#ques_B0
On the 4, check that electronics work: batterycheck beeping (long
tone), meter on manual and auto, spot and multispot, hilite and
shadow, the wiewfinder illuminator and selftimer. Does "Clear" clear,
and "Memory" work?
And that shutter works on all different speeds electronically, and on
red1/60 and B mechanichally.
Try with flash in all modes (normal, TTL, manual etc)
Are there any cracks in the mirror? Does the pentaprism look undamaged.
Does the body have severe dings or dents (tiny ones are normal if used a lot)
Others can probably come up with else.
Things like "hard to turn" shutter ring can be fixed. Light seals
(foam), if old, can also be fixed.
It's a nice camera if it works.
Lycka till
