Cat lens is short for catadioptric or mirror lens or "Reflex Lens"
They are long telephoto lenses that are cheap and fun to use but there are
drawbacks.  You can buy a new QuantaRay 500 mm for 125 dollars from Ritz !

You'll get better shots with '50s and wide angles, though.
