I was amused by this bit of the press release:
"Compared to the EOS D30 for example, the EOS-1D can shoot nearly 3 times
faster, with a top shutter speed of 1/16000 vs. 1/8000 "
If it were me, I'd call that "exactly twice as fast" rather than "nearly 3
times as fast", but I guess 2 is nearly 3 if you squint..
