There are still lots of digital camcorders at the higher end using
optical stabilizer, like the 3CCD series of Panasonic camcorders.
Actually in around 1992 Canon and Sony started with optical image
stabilizer and Panasonic started with electronic image stabilizer. Now
Panasonic gets back with a series of optical image stabilizer stuffs,
I think it works better than the electronic one, as my Panasonic DV's
electronic IS seems not working well.
