I would recommend a Dell 8100 (8200?) Dimension, with the biggest
monitor and most RAM you can afford. Don't even consider Windows ME!
Windows NT or Windows 2000 would be the way to go. I would agree with a
previous poster that an Adaptec SCSI controller is the only solution.
I owned a Mac Plus many years ago, and loved it, but think PCs have a
better price/performance ratio.
Things have changed somewhat since those days. The Imac DV (stands for
"digital video" might be a good inexpensive choice, for example. The
handful of people I know in New York who edit digital video for a living
use Macs (when they don't use the super-expensive stuff).
