As an insensitive OM camera toting robot I have an advice to humans: Find
yourself a shoulder to cry on, not a keyboard. Seriously, I don't
understand why your "real feelings" have to be vented here, despite others
(supposedly unreal?!?) feelings to keep this an OM centered forum.
I thought this was an OM-centered forum. What do I miss?
Listen. Since I joined last June this forum has always entertained
off-topic discussion. At one juncture there was a fellow, toward the end of
July, who broke off and started another list in an effort to get away from
the "noise." I've been this person then returned and some sort of flap
resulted. Now here we go again, all of a sudden there's a move to ban
off-topic discussion again, completely (which itself is some kind of
illogical humor), and I have to wonder how much of that has to do with the
fact that the off-topic discussion under examination at the moment has to
do with unmitigated disaster and not somebody's child or a trip someone
took recently or whatever else have you--in other words, off-topic
discussion of a more "normal" variety.
I'm with Jim insofar as I'd find it odd, too, if this list didn't have some
talk re NY and all that that tragedy implies for our world. That doesn't
ask for or to command anyone necessarily to talk about it, but these
absolute positions of opposition cause me to scratch my head.
Meanwhile, this list remains OM centered as far as I can tell.
