To be honest, if we are talking one lens, then we do not need interchangeable
lenses. Therefore I would pick my iS-3000 with 35-180 ED lens, and FP flash;
easily the most flexible, and fine performance to boot!

Assuming that we can specify 3rd party lenses, I would have to choose my OM-4Ti
and my Tamron 35-105/2.8. Covers most things well.
Sincerely,
Roger Key
Have seen a couple mention the OM-1 as their choice. My original -1 from 25
(ouch) years ago might be a sentimental choice, but I think in reality I'd
probably take my -2n for its ability to function as a manual or automatic.
For one lens, I guess I have to think back over the past couple years at
what I've got attached most of the time. It would probably be a 35-70, just
can't decide if I'd take the 3.5-4.5 or the fixed 3.6. I'm indecisive. OK,
I'd take the 3.6.
