Hello OMers,
My OM4T occasionally fails to wake up when I depress the
shutter-release button. (I.e. the LCD fails to light). At this time,
if I press the battery check button, I will get the intermittent
beep indicating the battery is low. Sometimes just doing the
check seems to cure the problem, other times the camera
balks for a few minutes, the returns to normal. I may shoot
a whole roll with no problems, and a good battery check
indication. Overall I think I have experienced the problem
about four times in twenty rolls of film shot over 4 weeks.
I have already 1) taken out the batteries, wiped them and
replaced them, 2) replaced them with brand new Energizer
357 batteries, and 3) checked the (new) batteries with
a digital multimeter - reading: 1.603v, 1.600v.
Subjectively, it seems that the problem occurs in
bright light situations, but this may actually be coincidence
or grasping at straws.
Has anyone experienced a problem like this, or can
anyone make a helpful suggestion on dealing with this
problem short of CLA (out of OMoney).
Thanks,
- Parzival
