Francisco earthquake.
Well, I don't know about the rest of Canada, but Alberta (the province
where I live, just north of Montana) sent disaster teams as well as dozens
of TELUS (phone company) trucks, to help with rescue efforts, humanitarian
aid and restoring telecommunications in the area. Lots of puzzled SFers
kept looking at the TELUS trucks and saying "Is there a new phone company
in town?" Apparently, they'd never *seen* such good service out of their
own phone companies! ;-)
"Stand proud, America!"
Indeed.
