My suggestions:
- use the fastest film, Tmax3200, fuji 1600, whatever. Gives you
higher shutter speed or smaller aperture
- use your lens that covers the action, near or far. A 50-250 zoom
is about right.
- crop the print to delete the scenery
- use flashes, if you can overpower the lights @ 1/60th
- set up some flash slaves, if you can.
- get as close to the action as you can
- use a monopod and winder.
