I'm hoping someone might be able to help out with a problem (minor, I
hope) with the focus ring on a recently acquired Zuiko 300 mm f-4.5
lens. When first turned in either direction, the focus ring has an
initial couple of mm loose play, followed by a distinct click, before
it engages and actually turns the lens tube. Following the initial
loose play and click, the ring rotates and turns the lens tube
smoothly through the entire range of motion in the direction it was
first turned. However, the focus ring repeats the "play-click"
behavior every time the direction of turn is changed at any position,
and it quickly becomes annoying when attempting to fine-tune the
focus. It seems like this should be something simple to fix, and may
be an adjustment that I could tackle myself. Does any one know of any
service manual or other repair guide that specifically covers lenses
(or at least includes them)? I'm reasonably mechanically inclined and
have little fear of disassembling things (almost always get them back
together in working order!)
