I didn't mean to imply that the long monster is a bad investment. I think it
does a lot for what it costs. I have not been able to really get much
experience with it as I was in a bad accident in June. I have promised some
list members to report what I find out about it in actual field use.
Porter's sells a lens that looks just like it for about $360 I think. I've
never seen any test data on it.

Darn, I thought it sounded too cheap..
thanks for the info; I'll just keep saving up, I guess. (or buy a few more
2x converters; lighter, smaller, and it sounds as if the optics probably
won't be a huge amount worse..)
