Congratulations... that sort of experience is what keeps me going to
camera shops!
Sorry to hear that the fire is still burning...

Hi Zuiks!
I think I scored my Doris Fang this afternoon. While driving home from
Spokane (via Republic, Tonasket, Chelan), stopped in a pawnshop in black
Okanogan (hillsides burned to a crisp).
Not expecting ANY OM luck, I see what looks like an OM lens in the case. Ask
to see it. It's a 2X-A, marked $29.95! I'm so hot and thirsty it's not too
hard to keep a straight face. After inspecting it (it's like new, just some
dust on the rear element, both original caps!), I say, "I'll take it." I
hand owner $40, expecting him to add the usual 8tate sales tax to the
$29.95. "$30 O.K.?", he asks. "Sure", I reply, now nearly losing my
composure. (Gee, I might have bargained him down $5, too!). I grinned all
the way home (except when I got to Tumwater Canyon, which is burned from
Leavenworth all 8 miles to the upper end, which breaks my heart).
What's the REAL value of a 2X-A? I picked up my first one just recently for
about $130, I think, on *Bay. I see them go for over $200 at times.
So now I have 2 each 2X-As, and a generic. Is this how Tom Scales got
started? It just "sorta" gets out of control at some point? Tom???

P.S. 43 whitetail, 1 black bear, 3 osprey, 1 bobcat, 6 rabbits (it was too
dark, I was too slow, etc., except for one very cooperative and cute little
bunny). And one forest fire still going (near our favorite mountain, darn
it).
