Well... I bought the Zuiko 180/2.8 ($ 510)!
Big (especially very wide frontal lens), heavy, but nicely finished,
nicely balanced, beautiful even... Well, to make it short: a Zuiko
lens ! :>} I can't wait to shoot a few rolls of film with it...
Not sure I will not buy the 200/4 also, though... I'm going for 1
month in India next September, and perhaps the 180 will prove to be a
burden for my frail shoulders... Wait and see.
Thanks to all the list members who kindly provided me with info and advice.

I have read several positive opinions on the Vivitar Series 1 - but
the one I have seen is not the Series 1, so I think I will ignore
it. I am leaning more and more towards the 180/2.8... Unbearable
suspense.

The Vivitar Series 1 200mm f3.0 is the one you want (if you decide against
the Zuiko 180mm f2.8). Vivitar also has a 200mm f3.5, but it is not as
good as the f3.0. The f3.0's are on eBay, periodically, and sell between
80 USD and 200 USD. >>
I love my 200/f3 and the 135/2.3 Series one lenses. The close focus to 4
feet and under is amazing. The Zuiko 200/4 is also a great lens and much
less heft to it.
