There is a plug for the hot shoe socket...
I don't know what the name/part number is,
but my OM-1md came with one...and I seem
to remember my -1n had one (bought new in
the late '70s)

I have never bothered to plug the top. I suppose moisture could get in,
but it
has never caused a problem in 20 years of use, much of it under adverse
conditions. On more than one occasion the whole camera body has been
plastered
with snow. I always figured that the pc socket doesn't have a plug
either, and
just not worried about it. I could probably come up with something, but
just
never bothered.
