dear p.j.,
I said:
<< you could take normal exposures with a very narrow aperture (advantage:
better depth of focus) without thr flash mounted, say go for f/16 and you
might get a reading longer than 1sec if the light is dim.
You could have the flash already charged, hand-held, pointing the right way
or mounted on a bracket or tripod but not connected to the camera and then
'paint' with the flash by firing from the 'Teat' button. >>
Actually using the 'Test' button would be better!
Of course with the ealier technique of using a wide aperture such as f/2 and
having the flash mounted properly on the camera, you could also try the
Manual half-power GN=16 setting instead of GN=32 to decrease the
flash:ambient light ratio.
Will the camera sync at non-1/60 shutter speeds in manual mode? There would
be another way.
I quite like thother list member's idea about blocking the flash ready
contact if that would work OK. John H. would know if this was 'safe'.
