I would just like to support Olaf in everything that he said, especially the
part with agitated mode on.
I think that Tom is a great asset to this list; I would cetrainly like to have
the ability to make the big purchases that he does, but I am glad that we have
someone on the list that has the ability. Tom is amazingly generous with loaning
lenses, etc. His prices are very reasonable when you consider the no questions
return policy; I would also trust his condition assesment much further than that
of the average e*ay seller.
Regarding Larry, I actually agree with a good deal of his politics, but I feel
that he lets envy get the better of him regarding Tom. I have very limited
disposible income too, but I am glad for Tom, not envious; I feel that I am rich
in many other ways, especially regarding personal and family health.
Oben had better watch out; his purchases could very soon attract Larry's
attempts at levity.

Alright, normally I'm wise enough to simply ignore this stuff, but this time
I'll add a few comments, first off, thanks guys, for teaching me three new
English words which I had to look up :)
They were:
surreptitiously (Mickey)
epiphanies (Les)
acerbic (Oben)
There you have it! Indeed we do learn even from threads like these...;)
Then:
> left me thinking whether this implies that the list is polarised into:
> 1. Those who have bought things off Tom...
> and
> 2. Those who haven't...
(shortened for the sake of digest members..)
Then for Larry's other contributions, I can hardly recall him having made
some serious contributions. Sure, at times he does recommend more
inexpensive alternatives for lenses such as the 35-80/2.8, so there's some
value in that, but overall spoken the "signal to noise ratio" is very low.
Come on Larry, get over it, grow up, participate like the rest of us do and
stop this childish behaviour.
[Agitated mode off]
Cheers!
Olafo
