Joel,
I have not tried stereo, however, there is a small but very dedicated and
active stereo division of PSA (Photographic Society of America) you can look
in on at http://www.psa-photo.org/stereo.htm. I am active in several other
divisions, but never had (yet) the inclination to try stereo.
At a PSA annual conference a number of years ago I recall seeing one member
who was doing stereo using two 300/2.8's. (on Nikons) I can't remember the
exact distance now, but I recollect the camera's were on a rather large
bracket, several feet apart, that took two tripods to support, quite a
sight! I assume the distance between the cameras/lenses must depend on
focal length?

P.S. If anybody decides to join PSA, please feel free to list me as a
sponsor, I need the brownie points!
