Ok, I was promising to myself to stay away from this thread, but I
cannot....

Depending, really.
- If someone are discussing "OM-gear", that's on topic. Surely.
- If someone are discussing "pictures taken with OM-gear, is that
on or off topic?
- If someone are discussing formal testing methods of
Zuiko-lens characteristics, is that on or off topic?
- If someone discuss general optical or photochemical issues, is
that on or off topic?
- If someone are discussing artistic composition of pictures, is
that on or off topic? What if it doesn't mention Olympus? I
remember recently reading a thread, where the contents of a
photo-course was described - interresting, but not OM-related?
- If someone asks "Have anyone heard from Tom Scales lately" is
that on or off topic, knowing that Tom is a great source of OM
knowledge and gear?
I thing that a "mainly on-topic or on related topics" policy is maintained
here. I appreciate that we're mainly focusing on OM-gear, but I also
appreciate being able to ask advices on films, development hereof when I
accidentially "pull" a HP5 to 125 ISO etc. And also, I think it's great
to be able to have a little "chatter" in between, as well as being updated
when something happens in peoples life.
To me, it's not necessarilly more on-topic to know that person X bought Y
lens for his camera, than it is to know that the wife of person Z (whom I
know from the list) has given birth to a new family member (just as an
example).
Yeah, there are off-topic postings. So be it. As long as the tone is nice
and that the balance is as it is now, I would be sad to see the more
"personal" postings disappear.
Just my opinion
