Hello Group,
I bought the subject camera from "paulvt" and it arrived today. It started
life as an
OM-4. At some point, Paul took ownership of it and shipped it to Clint at
Photosphere
for a complete conversion. Paul has done this with several OM-4 s in the past.
Clint
strips and guts the chasis and rebuilds them completely with the latest
circuitry, the
same thats in the OM-4T and OM-4Ti. The top, bottom, skin and backs are
replaced along
with anything else that needs to be. Through an agreement with Olympus, they
are
allowed to rebadge the camera as an OM-4T (not a 4Ti because that designation
is still
sold as new). The resulting camera body is as close to a new 4T or 4Ti as you
can get
for a lot less. It has Super FP flash capability and the proper hot shoe. It
fully
functions like a 4T or 4Ti. The only hint of its previous life is the round
self-timer
light instead of rectangular. Yes, the battery test light and beep go off
after 30
seconds.
This particular body looks exactly like new inside and out. No signs of use or
wear.
No dust inside the viewfinder. Its absolutely perfect. Even the battery and
winder
covers are perfect. Not one blemish. And it comes with a one-year warranty.
Paul used to sell these on his website. He has sold several over the years.
This was
his last one. He and Clint say it isn't cost effective to do the conversions
anymore.
I believe John H. has said the same thing in the past.
Paul is a great guy to deal with. Its too bad for us that hes not in the
business
full-time anymore.
