I found the following message in another news group:
"Also be aware that you can recharge mercury cells. I have several
batteries that I have found in used equipment and recharged and have
been using for years now. A simple, inexpensive solar recharger for

The "button charger" referred to is evidently solar-powered and
specifically refers to "rejuvenating" used mercury cells. It costs $21.
