And the Banded Seasnake.
The new world coral snakes are elapids and related to the Australian
venomous snakes and the kraits and cobras. Very venomous. However, to
get bitten by a coral snake you have to work at it. Their mouths do not
open wide and the fangs are tiny and they are relatively timid,
non-aggresive snakes. Anyone who dies from a coral snake bite probably
deserved it. They are beautiful snakes with a Black Yellow Red pattern
of rings. The Coral snake mimics, mostly non-venomous king and milk
snakes, do not have red and yellow touching, hence the menmonic of "red
yellow kill a fellow."
