Ansel Adams talks about using a viewing filter (red, I believe) to help view
the frame in a more 2 dimensional manner than looking through the
viewfinder. Something that works for me (when I remember to do it) is to
look *through* the viewfinder while focusing, and look *at* the viewfinder
when composing/framing. Pulling my eye a hair back from the camera helps
this somewhat.
