Have you checked the Silicon Blue Cells in the mirror housing? Set to B and
look through the film back. Have they got the lens on them or are they
present? I know the shutter is limited to a certain time period on the
OM-2's so its most likely that the Cd S cells are working but the Si Blue
are not providing the stop signal for the mirror to come down/shutter to
close during the exposure once they take control. Maybe the wiring between
the Si Blue cells and the shutter governor is gone? Sounds fixable....

Hi All,
Just received a "Non-working" OM-2n from Canada (3rd deal across the border,
no problems). Mirror hangs "up" upon firing (seller described this
honestly), then comes down later -- minutes later. Came with batteries that
seem new and tested at 1.5V. I replaced them with a set I knew to be good
(bought just a couple weeks back and have shot less than 3 rolls of film with
them -- they are stored out of the OM-2S). No luck. Any ideas? Other
suggestions to try? What is this a symptom of?
Meter seems to be working O.K.
This is an otherwise VERY nice body. Cosmetics are NICE. I've found one
tiny chip off the plastic that surrounds the battery check light on the back.
Otherwise pretty pristine. No dings, and almost no paint scratches
whatsoever. Small cracks in the Shoe 4... no surprise there.
It was $67.66, which is a FANG considering the exchange rate... or is it? Am
I looking at an expensive repair? Considering the initial price, I don't
mind the fact that most likely I will have to send it off for repair and CLA,
if the repair isn't outrageous.
I LIKE the features of this camera! Like the "Manual -- Off -- Auto" switch.
Like the viewfinder display, that switches modes. I can see why this model
is a favorite of many.
Was hoping for that fresh battery miracle... sigh.
