Doesn't sound right. They can be regarded as two different cameras anyway -
the AE-1p was later and much changed/improved. I can't imagine that they
sold more than the Pentax K1000, for instance - the Volkwagen of SLR
photography which is still being made in one Chinese incarnation (Pearl
River's 'Millenium') with only cosmetic and cheapening modifications.
