Sigh!
Best shutter sound I ever heard - old Contax. NOTHING comes close.
Best winder 'feel' - Minolta XD (2, I think). Pure silk.
Now stop this nonsense!

The OM-2S has a pleasing sound and the OM-1n is sweet, but I agree
there is NOTHING like the sound of the Zeiss Ikon Contax shutter!!!
Never realized 'til I joined this list that sound was an important
feature to photographers. How beautiful a sound does it take to
shoot a beautiful picture;-)

It's not just the sound, it's all the senses. It's the entire
zen-like experience of becoming one with the camera, including the
heft of the body and lens, the feel of the controls, and the odor of
the body covering. A poly-carbonate P&S or Wunderbrick just does
not have the feel of brass, glass and steel mingling with the odor
of a leather covered camera body. The journey in making the
photograph is as important as its destination (the final image).
On the other hand you could program a marvelous digital with any
sound you want.
