I just succumbed to a relatively inexpensive plastic digital wonderbrick
for the limited use and convenience of instant pictures mostly for the
computer. Not Oly because I was swayed by comments from Consumer Reports
about the difficult to understand menus on the Oly and so I opted for the
one that was praised for more logical controls. Sheesh. It is like
programming a VCR, only more difficult. Manual controls are SO easy. I am
astounded by the complexity built into this little monster. The
instruction booklet is 90 pages long.
You succinctly described my observation about the Magnificent
Wunderbricks. Imagine trying to set all this stuff in the field while a
truly superb "grab shot" slips away. It wouldn't surprise me if a poll of
Magnificent Wunderbrick users found they select one set of options and
rarely, if ever, change them.
The next step? IR remote controls similar those supplied with a TV or VCR
so you can program the beasties remotely, and an additional 90 pages of
instructions on how to use the remote control.
