where the tech data says 1/30 sec. at f/16 on Provia 100. I think the
1/30 sec. has to be wrong. The trucks were described as rumbling by yet
they are pretty well frozen. The scene also looks like full desert
sunshine which would call for 1/100 sec. according to the sunny 16
rule. Still a very nice shot though.
Yes, not just luck; that was only being in the right place at the right
time. The rest was seeing the opportunity and knowing what to do with
it! If he was using a polarizer it could easily knock a couple stops off
bringing things down to a 1/30 exposure. Just a guess. A look at the
shadows shows it was nearly mid-day too.
