Hi,
Gary replied on my quote:
<< I recently studied a book about antique-trading... conclusion: old
cameras have hardly any value. >>
Hum, I like that if only because it might make some owners let them go
for cheap.
Just because something is in print doesn't mean it is fact.
What I meant to say is that investing in for example an OM3 just to sell it
in 2030 is the wrong investment. Saving the money at an ordinary 4% bank
account will result in a higher "profit".
The Olympus M1 is a good example. It now sells for about $500 - $700. This
means the camera is not worth more than it would be in 1972...
The same is true for a classic Leica M1.
Nevertheless, looking around for bargains will do no harm. Last year I
bought a mint 40 mm F2 for $90 and yes, I could sell it with a nice profit.
But again, will I become "rich" by spending all my time in looking around
for such bargains... no way!
