With the 625A (which starts at 1.55V) battery voltage starts to drop as soon
as you start to use the battery. So, while the meter may be accurate with a
new battery, the meter slowly goes out of calibration as time goes by,
simply due to battery failure. Silver oxide 1.5V batteries have a more
level output over their life.

| A 625A is what K&S recommended, but I intend to use some sort of silver
| oxide battery.

| I was reviewing the archives today on this very subject. I believe
alkaline
| can be used but shouldn't be as their voltage falls off over time (so the
| metering will be affected). To tie this in to another thread (OM-1N - K&S
| CLA and Morgan Sparks' leathers), I would ask Scott Gomez to see what
| battery K&S used after his OM-1N meter conversion. When my CLA and
| conversion were done there last summer, the camera came back with a 625A
| (alkaline) battery. :-(
