We've updated that conventional wisdom here:
Some boards are available at Photosphere. The service cost is probably
"beyond economic repair" given the cost of a used replacement body. The
dead circuit board "problem" is overstated and doesn't appear that
often. A carcass could serve as a parts camera for another OM-2S that
the owner might be using.
The most common Achilles Heel of this model is oxidation on the variable
resistor contacts, causing intermittent spiking of shutter speeds. Just
takes a cleaning and conditioning.
