You're probably right. I checked my Adobe Gamma Control Panel and I
was set to 2.0 which is lighter than Windows default (but darker than
Mac default).
Nice photos, as I said. Unfortunately, my elder son (nearly 20)
seems to have little interest in photography, while the younger son
is otherwise engaged with school exams at present. But when we visit
Scotland next month, I hope to rekindle the interest in the younger
son...

I suspect that is more likely error on the part of the person who scanned
them for the web (me). They don't look washed out on my monitor though.
How do they look to others?
That's always one of the challenges of viewing photographs on the web --
everybody's setup is different.
