Another way of looking at this is the angle of view of the spot meter.
At about 180mm focal length I seem to recall the center circle on a 2
series screen equalled the area of my 1 degree spot meter. I guess that
means 2 degrees angle of view at 90mm and 4 degrees at 45mm.
I believe Olympus (or a popular magazine test) revealed that the central 2%
spot equals 3.3-degrees with a 50mm lens. If so, then a 165mm lens should
yield a 1-degree spot.
