I hope Barry Brown's experience is not wholly similar to mine
although I cannot speak for Zuiko lenses as fortunately I have not yet
dropped one hard enough to worry.
However, about 12 years ago I dropped my OM10 with a spanking new
Vivitar 28-70mmf3.5-f4.8 Macro lens attached and only managed to get a toe
under the lens to soften the landing. (It fell out of a new canvas case
when I opened it without having the camera strap already round my neck :( ).
The combination seemed to work afterwards for the rest of the day
out, and I still occasionally use the lens, but two dealers who were asked
to quote for possible repair reported back 'Lens is damaged beyond repair'!
Presumably I bent something in the lens body which did not stop it
working altogether but I imagine Gary Reese would rapidly detect a
deterioration in the performance of the lens. Nowadays, knowing more about
such things from the list, I am also thankful that the camera has carried
on working.
