At 03:33 5/24/01, Allan Bighan wondered:
Sangamo Weston Limited, Enfield, Middlesex, England. The phone number at
this time was Enfield 3434 which won't be much use today! I wonder if the
company still exists?
Allan
Yes and no.
The company markings you mention are of (what was) the British subsidiary
of the Weston Electrical Instrument Corporation, of Newark, New
Jersey. The original Weston subsidiary, Weston Electrical Instrument Co.
Ltd, was bought by Sangamo and renamed with the Sangamo Weston markings you
cited in 1936.
Its successor, through a tangled trail of buy-outs and reorganizations, is
The Weston Group consisting of Weston Aerospace, Norwich Aero Products and
Pressure Systems Inc. It is part of The Roxboro Group PLC.
They no longer make photographic light meters. They do make sensors,
scanners and systems related to aerospace and industrial applications,
including precision laboratory instrumentation.
