I don't know if anyone has observed the following variation in macro lenses
before.
I noticed this when I got an OM3Ti brochure in Australia. In it I found that
the 50mm f2 and 90mm f2 macro lenses have different markings than North
American equivalents.
You will find that the macro lenses unlike other primes have marking of
distances in either feet with orange lettering or in metres with white
lettering together with the 1: scale. The Australian (and I would guess rest
of the world version) has the metric scale. The North American version has
the orange lettering and is marked in feet (why don't the Americans adopt
the metric system? Always surprises me that a country as advanced as America
still uses the empiric system).
In addition I wonder if there are separate serial number sets of such
lenses. Maybe the lens coating data collectors can shed some light on this?
Also I wonder if the American brochures show the macro lenses with the feet
scale in orange lettering. The Australian version has the lens pictured with
the white metric scale. Another variation that collectors need to take into
account.
