Skip,
You can definitely use the Quantum 1 or 1+ to power your F-280. Not
the Quantum Turbo or the Bounce Grip 2, since this provides only high
voltage to the 3-pin socket which is missing in the F-280...
To use the 1 or 1+, you will have to make your own adapter to fit into
the flash battery compartment, although the T-32 one fits rather well
too. You will have to cut away a small part of the battery cover to
let the cable through.
I have made my own adapter from a straight wooden kitchen spoon with a
handle of the same thickness as AA cells. Cut two parts of the handle,
each having almost the same size as AA cells (actually a little bit
shorter). Then put a screw in one end of each wooden 'battery' with
the proper cable (+ or -) to the Quantum output socket (RCA plug
needed on the Quantum end)).
The attachment is easy when you use solder tabs with a hole big enough
to let the screws pass though, and solder the cables to the tabs. A
little paint or tape to mark the 'battery' with the plus and terminal
red and the minus one black will help you preventing the flash from
getting damaged... One protective diode may help too.
Good luck, Frank.
