Well, I've tried the stuff once, and as much as I hate mosquitoes, I still
prefer dealing with them to spreading my stomach contents over the breakfast
table on a regular basis. The only thing that prevented a major catastrophe
when I tasted this absolutely disgusting substance (just a knife tip full on
a corner of my toast was enough) was the fact that I had a full mug of tea
that had already cooled enough to allow me washing it down real fast. Out of
my head, I can't remember having tried anything else in my life that would
match Marmite's capability of instantly making you feel quite, quite sick
just by its taste. Definitely a one-time experience for me, if there is any
way I can help it.
However, if the yeast really scares off the mosquitoes (though probably it
really is just the Marmite - makes me almost feel sorry for the poor
critters), there's a vastly preferable alternative: drink lots of good
Bavarian wheat beer (Weissbier); the yeast is not filtered out of this brew,
so it is not only rich in calories, but also loaded with B-vitamins. And if
you get a good brand its taste is excellent. :-)
