I found a picture of the Olympus Ace and the accompanying 80/5.6 telephoto here:
http://www.cameraguild.co.jp/nekosan/olympusace.htm.
The author also mentions the existance of an 80/4, but hasn't seen one.
So that confirms it, Hilary is definately right. I was just surprised how much
the rear element protruded from the lens. I'd have thought that a
leaf-shuttered cameras like the Ace wouldn't have enough room for this rear
element to clear the shutter.

This is definitely the 80mm f5.6 lens for the Olympus Ace and Tower 19
cameras. It is a pretty rare lens although the F4 80mm for the Ace is much
rarer still. The Achilles heel of the Ace was the very small bayonet fitting
I have seen parts of the flanges broken off a couple of lenses and the
bayonets are often quite loose. Apparently Olympus used particularly small
versions of the Seikosha SLV shutter for the Ace E and Tower 19 versions and
a small version of the Copal SV shutter for the Ace. They are really quite
compact cameras with a lovely bright finder with a reasonable effective base
length rangefinder.
