As others have mentioned, avoid using a courier and just go with Royal Mail.
To that I would add that if the items are very valuable or difficult to
replace, send them via Priority mail. When a Priority mail item arrives
in Canada via Royal Mail, it is redirected to Purolator. They will deliver
it directly to your home and require a signature before leaving it. This
is the best of both worlds if you ask me. You get courier service at postal
rates!
