Excuse me if you already heard about this news:
Olympus (unofficially, but at a public performance "Kodak
e-Revolution 2001" held on 27 April) disclosed about their plan to
introduce a new digital SLR system with interchangeable lenses at
PMA in February 2002.
The following are the features:
CCD: Kodak KAF-5100CE 3/4 inch 5.1 M Pixels (or its customized
version)
Lens mount: Propose a new mount to become a defact standard among
many digital camera manufacturers
Price: Lens+Body=<200,000 yen (about 1700 USD)
Initial launch: at least one body model, five lenses, high capacity
power source, grip system, storage system (MO type), macro system,
viewer system, etc.
They stressed, again, that existing OM Zuiko or other film camera
lenses are NOT suitable for digicams with a smaller focal plane area
(CCD).
