According to your original post, you already found the dinks... the
salespeople! :-)))
Everyone else has probably already given you all the info you need, but
here's my couple of suggestions:
1. Check the foam seals for "goo"
2. See if you can take some quick shots and get the roll processed at
the 1 hr lab. If you can, vary the shots (indoors with/without flash,
outdoors into/away from sun).
And, this one isn't 'bout checking quality, but is more 'bout negotiating
the price:
3. Whine 'bout how high the price is (even if it isn't)
